Watch as this great blue heron starts a brand-new nest.

A humble beginning with sticks and twigs.  First one stick, then another — which is presented to his bride. They work together to build their new home.

Gotta start somewhere. . .
. . . so he heads to the woods
He finds a suitable stick.
It’s hard to place when you have no arms.
It takes careful bill action
Perfect!
He brings his bride to their new home. It’s a work in progress.
Now it’s off to find another.
Lovely bride is pleased. . .
. . .he brings the perfect gift!
Goose finds all this young love a bit annoying.
But Owl watches in silent approval.
Much easier to place now that two are involved.
He brings a third, then a fourth. . .
The owl can’t watch any longer. She has hungry mouths to feed!
